Industry clusters are regional concentrations of related industries. Clusters consist of companies, suppliers, and service providers, as well as government agencies and other institutions that provide education, research, and technical support to a regional economy.

Several studies have confirmed the County’s existing industry clusters as vital segments of our local economy. The County identifies these clusters as “target industries” because their network of economic relationships create a competitive advantage that allow them to thrive and grow.

Project ENABLE recognizes the following target industries:

Bioscience and Medical Devices
Business and Financial Services
Information Systems/Defense and Security
Agribusiness and Food Processing

It also recognizes the following sectors as complementary targets:

  • Health Services
  • Arts, Design, Sports, and Media

In addition, life sciences and renewable energy are considered “emerging clusters” for our region.
